Lions’ Strike Against Hunger Bowl-A-Thon Saturday, May 18

ALPENA — The Alpena Lions Club’s Strike Against Hunger Bowl-A Thon will take place at at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 at Thunderbowl Lanes.

Chairperson Gary Stevens noted that the Alpena Lions currently have 20 teams interested in participating, with a maximum number of teams at 24. Event sponsors and lane sponsors are always welcome to participate.

This family-fun event supports local food banks; including St. Bernard’s Friendship Room, the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena, the Alpena Senior Citizens Center, St. Vincent DePaul, Trinity Episcopal Church, Grace Lutheran Church and the Baby Pantry.

People of all ages, with all levels of skill are encouraged to take part. Last year’s youngest participant was 4 years old. The goal is for all to have a great time while raising money to fight hunger in our area.

Last year’s Bowl-A-Thon winners were the “Aging Mystics” who won by a combination of their bowling skills and the total amount they raised with the generosity of their supporters.

Interested parties are encouraged to call Alpena Lion Gary Stevens at 989-595-6384 or reach out to the Alpena Lions at alpenalionsclub.com.
