MCL hosting Polish Dinner on Saturday; Ace of Spades winner to be drawn

ALPENA — The Marine Corps League Alpena Detachment is hosting a Polish dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday in the Canteen of the VFW on Connon Street.

Dinner includes pierogies, sauerkraut and sausage, potatoes, dinner roll and your choice of desserts. This is dine-in or take-out. The cost for the dinner is $15 per person. For take-outs, please call the Canteen at 989-340-0385.

This marks the final night for the Ace of Spades drawing. Names will be drawn until there is a winner. The prize is over $1,700. You do not need to be present to win. The dinner and drawing are both open to the public.

AHS Class of 1954 to celebrate 70th reunion

ALPENA — Alpena High School’s Class of 1954 will celebrate their 70th class reunion at noon on Friday, May 24 at the 19th Hole. Family and friends are welcome. RSVP to Iris at 989-354-2553.

Euchre tourney Sunday to benefit Plaza Pool

ALPENA — A euchre tournament fundraiser for the Plaza Pool will be on Sunday at the APlex. Doors open at noon, and play starts at 1 p.m. The cost is $20 per person. There will be food, a cash bar, a 50/50 drawing, a $1 pool for the high game, and door prizes. This event is hosted by the Friends of Plaza Pool.

Sanctuary council to meet

ALPENA — The Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23 at the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center, 500 W. Fletcher Street, Alpena. The public is invited to attend.

NOAA will provide updates on Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary programs, upcoming events, and research.

Public comment will take place at approximately 7:50 p.m.
