Chicken dinner at Posen VFW Sunday, March 10

POSEN ­-- The VFW Auxiliary of Post Post 7804 invites the public to a baked chicken dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 10 at the Posen VFW Hall.

The menu includes baked chicken, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade bread, and homemade desserts.

The cost is $12 per adult, $5 per child ages 5 to 12, and free for children younger than age 5. Takeout meals will be available for $12 each. The hall is handicap accessible.

Proceeds will benefit Posen Robotics.

Easter bazaar and bake sale at Peace Lutheran in R.C.

ROGERS CITY ­-- Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers City will host an Easter bazaar and bake sale from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.

The event will be held in the fellowship hall at the church, 1401 M-68 Hwy., Rogers City (half-mile west of the U.S.-23 and M-68 junction).

Aid by the Dozen met

ALPENA -- Feb. 21 was the date chosen by Catheryn Murphy to host the monthly meeting of the Aid by the Dozen group.

The Friendship Room was once again chosen to receive the monthly donation. Cards were sent by Sunshine Lady Marlene Montie. Carol Kelly, Geri Skiba, Chris Dubey, Leora Jacobs, Mariette Jore, and Marlene all received secret pal surprises. The hostess gift was taken by Chris. The evening concluded with Catherine serving a delicious homemade dessert.

The next meeting will take place march 27, hosted by Maxine Gagnon.

VFW 2496 Auxiliary met

ALPENA -- The VFW 2496 Auxiliary was presided over by President Darryl at 6 p.m. on Feb.13, with 18 members in attendance. The secretary, treasurer, bingo and audit reports were given and approved, pending audit. Bingo made a donation. Brief Americanism and hospital committee reports were given. The standing rule changes were displayed.

The dates for the Lenten fish fries were revealed: Feb. 16, March 1, 8, and 29. Help is always needed.

The charter was draped in memory of lifetime member Veronica Brown, who went to her heavenly home on Jan. 18.

Members were informed of the details of the women's division Auxiliary pool tournament to be held in Alpena March 14, 15, and 16. The Auxiliary is responsible for two breakfasts, three lunches, selling 50/50 tickets, donating a basket for a raffle, half the cost of table rental, and suppling some bartenders. The Auxiliary will be donating a portion of the profits to suicide awareness.

Darryl, once again, reminded attendees that elections will be held at the April meeting.

After the closing ritual was conducted, the meeting was adjourned at 7 p.m. The next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on March 14.

AAACU annual meeting Saturday at Alpena High

ALPENA -- Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union will hold its 70th annual meeting on Saturday at the Alpena High School auditorium.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the meeting starts at 6 p.m.

Cash prizes will be awarded. The public is welcome.
