ALPENA — Mary Rajasekhar, owner of Olivet Book and Gift, announces that local author, Sharon Kirby, will be holding a book signing event from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday for her newly published manuscript, “The Advent of Easter.”

Kirby’s book is a nine-day family devotional which presents a scripture reading, devotion, and prayer relating to the historic daily events of Holy Week. Also included in the book are alternate readings, songs, books, videos, movies and activities that coordinate with each devotion.

Kirby is a native Michigander who grew up in the small city of Whittemore before leaving the state to earn her Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Valley Forge, where she majored in Pastoral Studies. She and her husband relocated to Michigan in 1994 and have lived in the Alpena area for over 20 years.

Her debut devotional, “The Advent of Easter,” and a short story anthology will be available to purchase at the time of Saturday’s book signing.
