ALPENA — Eve Phillips turned 89 years young on Nov. 27.

Asked how she stays active, she’ll tell you she swims for self-health and teaches Senior Fitness three times a week, plays volleyball, and can be seen swimming laps at the Alpena County Plaza Pool.

For many years, Eve taught swimming and physical education for Alpena Public Schools. She’s also an active and competitive bridge player.
