Pet pics with the Grinch for a good cause Sat.
ALPENA -- Get your pets photographed withe the Grinch from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Merchants Building at the Alpena County Fairgrounds, for a suggested minimum donation of $5. All proceeds will benefit Alpena County Animal Control.
Dog photos will be taken from noon to 2 p.m., and cat photos will take place from 2 to 3 p.m.
Digital photos will be available after the event. Instructions will be provided.
All animals must be leashed or in crates.
Hillman VFW met
HILLMAN -- The Hillman Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2356 held its regular meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2.
Fifteen members were present, including District Commander Jeremiah Shields and Vice Commander Peggy Hahn-Miles.
The Friday Night Fish Fry is doing well, The post hosts its fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. every Friday night, with your choice of fish or shrimp, potato, coleslaw, roll, and drink. The fish fry is open to the public, and the cost is $12 for the fish dinner or $14 for the shrimp dinner.
Discussion included next year's V-J Day celebration, two upcoming military funeral services, and Veterans Day activities.

The post sells United States-made polyester 3-foot-by-5-foot American flags for $30. There is also a drop box for old flags outside the front door of Post 2356.
Medical supplies are available for loan. Call Wayne at 989-255-4412 or Marv at 989-255-2072. Anyone who has medical items they no longer need is asked to please call so the post can continually upgrade. A power-lift chair has been donated for a veteran, so contact Wayne or Marv if you know of a veteran in need.
