Besser students, staff, families fill a bus to battle hunger

ALPENA -- Besser Elementary students, parents and staff collected nearly 1,500 nonperishable food items and self-care items to stock The Little Food Pantry, a goodwill food pantry located on Dunbar Street outside Grace Lutheran Church. The food pantry provides short-term food and personal care items for those who need them in our community.
This community service project sponsored by Besser Parent Advisory Council was held during National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. The Besser families collected items from Nov. 13 through Nov. 20.
The goal was to fill an APS school bus with the items, and they did it! Appreciation goes out to Alpena Public Schools bus driver Mr. Vince for donating his time for the second year in a row for this wonderful cause, helping to deliver all of the items to the food pantry.
Way to go, Besser Bulldogs!
