ALPENA — On Monday evening, Nov. 6, the members of the Alpha Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met at the Alpena County Library.

After enjoying a catered meal, Carol Lund and Pat Garant presented a program about their recent volunteer work at the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. They spoke about the projects they participated in during the week they were there with a group called Re-Member, co-founded by Keith and Ginny Titus, deceased members of our Alpena community. More information about the Re-Member organization is available at re-member.org.

Garant also spoke to the group about her position with the READ Program at the library.

After a business meeting, members of Alpha Xi prepared bags with Milky Way candy bars for distribution to the employees in the Alpena, Montmorency and Presque Isle schools. This was done to thank them for their continued work educating children in their schools.

The next Alpha Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma meeting will be on Monday, Dec. 4 at the Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan.
