Grace Episcopal dinners in October, November

LACHINE — Grace Episcopal Church, 13488 Long Rapids Road, will host upcoming soup and sandwich dinners this and next month, with proceeds going to local charities.

Dinners will feature soup, sandwiches, homemade pies and desserts, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27 and from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, with cost by donation. The public is invited to these dinners.

On Friday, Oct. 27, attendees are asked to bring towels, blankets, pet food, or any items they would like to donate to the local animal shelter.

On Friday, Nov. 17, all donations will be given to Toys for Kids.

AHS Class of 1953 luncheon Tuesday, Oct. 10

ALPENA — The Alpena High School Class of 1953 will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at the 19th Hole. This will be our last luncheon meeting until April 2024, so, please pass the word to others. If you have any questions, call Jeanne at 989-356-0606.

Community Chorus rehearsals resume Monday

ALPENA — The Thunder Bay Arts Community Chorus will begin rehearsals for the Christmas program at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9 at Word of Life Baptist Church, 1900 N. Bagley St.

Music may be picked up at the main desk of the Alpena County Library, 211 N. 1st Ave. before Saturday.

The chorus director, Joseph Agnew, and accompanist, Pam Barkel, have selected music to lift your spirits for the season. The membership is $25 payable the first or second rehearsal. Make checks out to Thunder Bay Arts.

Family Fun Fridays Oct. 13, 20 at Plaza Pool

ALPENA — Free Family Fun Fridays will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 and 20 at the Alpena Plaza Pool located inside Alpena High School. These events are sponsored by the Youth and Recreation millage and the Friends of Plaza Pool. Children age 6 and younger must be accompanied by an adult in the water.
