ALPENA -- The Alpena Farmers Market will host its annual Kids Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
With help from a Youth and Recreation grant, the Alpena FFA, the Alpena Optimist Club, Alpena Lions Club, and many area businesses, the Friends of the Alpena Farmers Market hosts this event.
The market takes on a carnival atmosphere as it fills with families and children. There will be live music and dancing with Claire Schreiber, and many free activities, including the Wolverine State Credit Union bounce house and inflatable slides, FFA petting zoo and hayrides, HPC Credit Union hay bale pyramid with help from Dave Timm Tillage and B&B Farmers, Alpena Community Credit Union face painting, Twister Joe balloon animals, Wolverine SCU dunk tank with the Thunder Bay Schooners, Northland Area Credit Union duck race and snow cones, Blue Cross Blue Shield fruit and vegetable tasting, Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union bubble and foam party under the Dave Dargis Express Care and Optimist big tents, free popcorn, Stanson pedal tractors, Alpena Walmart bike drawing, Alpena County Library kids program, AMA ESD Great Start Collaborative, Alpena Fire Department truck and ambulance, and many other free activities.
The farmers market itself is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mich-e-ke-wis Park, 1302 State Ave. in Alpena. For more information, visit Friends of the Alpena Farmers Market on Facebook.
