The regular meeting of the Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2496 was presided over by President Darryl McQuarrie on Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. with 12 members in attendance.
The secretary and treasurer reports were given and approved, pending audit. The bingo report was read and a donation was made. There was one application for life membership and it was approved. The Americanism and Hospital chairmen gave a brief report.
Everyone was encouraged to attend the VJ Days event Aug. 12 in Hillman and the Tunnel to Towers 5K fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 9.
McQuarrie announced that the new building doors were ordered and have arrived and will be installed soon. The audit from the last quarter was read and approved.
The charter was draped in honor of life member Karen Kelly. The Auxiliary received five award citations at the district meeting in Harbor Springs and the November meeting will be held in Onaway.
Because of an upcoming rise in dues, starting Jan. 1, 2024, Auxiliary dues will increase by $5. A donation of $200 was made to a local veteran to help with needed car repairs.
After the closing ritual was conducted, President McQuarrie adjourned the meeting at 7 p.m. The next meeting is Sept. 12 at 6 p.m.
