ALPENA -- Alpena Lion Steve Garant was recently recognized for his service with the Alpena Lions Club and the Eversight Michigan Program.
Over the years, Garant has been directly involved in testing children's eyesight and referring children to seek further treatment. He has been instrumental in collecting used eyeglasses and heads up the Alpena Lions Highway Cleanup program.
The Alpena Lions recently tested 47 children at the Farmers Market and referred four children for additional testing. The Alpena Lions will be back at the Farmers Market for Kids Day on Sept. 23 manning the Kids' Sight Testing Trailer from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
