Gone to Pieces Quilt Guild to meet Aug. 3

ALPENA — Gone to Pieces Quilt Guild will meet Thursday, Aug. 3 at the APlex. Social time begins at 5:30 p.m., with the guild meeting at 6 p.m. See the talents of local quilters and make new friends! Visitors are always welcome.

City Band Children’s Concert Aug. 3

ALPENA — The Alpena City Band will perform its annual Children’s Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 3. Games and face painting will be featured, along with free ice cream. An assortment of music will be played than can be enjoyed by all ages at this free concert. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on, and bring the whole family out for a fun evening at the Alpena Bandshell at Bay View Park.

AHS Class of 1959 reunion Aug. 26

ALPENA — The Alpena High School Class of 1959 will hold its reunion on Saturday, Aug. 26 at JJ’s Steak and Pizza House.

A buffet dinner will be held at 5 p.m. The cost is $40 per person, payable in advance by check to Gloria Gohl, 8654 North Point Shores Drive, Alpena MI 49707. Please send payment by Aug. 15.

A pre-party get-together will be held the night before, at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug.25 at the 19th Hole in Alpena.

Golden Grocery Giveaway dates set

ALPENA — Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency has announced its upcoming Golden Grocery Giveaway food distribution dates for August.

This program is for income-eligible seniors age 60 and older.

Alpena County distribution will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8 at Word of Life Baptist Church, 1900 N. Bagley St., Alpena.

Alcona County distribution will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8 at Lincoln Senior Center, 205 Church St., Lincoln.

Presque Isle County distribution will take place on Thursday, Aug. 10 at the following times and locations: 9 to 10 a.m. at the Onaway C.O.A./Senior Center on Lynn Street in Onaway; 10:30 to 11 a.m. at 131 Superior St., Rogers City, and 11:30 a.m. to noon at the Posen C.O.A./Senior Center, 6520 Darga Highway, Posen.

Second Chance Pickup and Pantry Pickup will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at NEMCSA, 11765 U.S.-23, Ossineke.

Montmorency County distribution will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the following times and locations: Noon to 12:30 p.m. at Lewiston Senior Center, 2811 Kneeland St., Lewiston; 1 to 1:30 p.m. at the Atlanta Senior Center, 11780 M-33, Atlanta; and 2 to 2:30 p.m. at the Hillman Senior Center, 431 Pineview Court, Hillman.
