AHS Class of 1953 reunion Aug. 1

ALPENA — The 70th reunion for the Alpena High School Class of 1953 will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at The Court Yard Ristorante on State Avenue in Alpena. Social hour will be from 4 to 5 p.m., with dinner served at 5 p.m. If you have questions, call Jeanne at 989-356-0606.

Bridge results noted

ALPENA — Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club results have been announced for this week.

Gordon Bennett and Marge French placed first, followed by Deanna Brege and Gayle Nowak in second place, and Beverley Rousseau and Marcy Sherman in third place.

Used book sale Friday

ALPENA — MyMichigan Health Alpena Volunteers will host a used book sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday in the lobby at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.

Long Lake Family Fishing Derby Aug. 5

ALPENA — The 32nd Annual Long Lake Improvement Association Family Fishing Derby will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, with over $1,000 in cash prizes. All youths age 15 and younger will receive a prize. The adult division (16 and up) will have four species (perch, pike, walleye, bass), and the youth division will have five species (bluegill, perch, pike, walleye, bass). A $15 membership fee is required per household, available at Dodge Marine and Storage. Proceeds benefit Long Lake Improvement Association projects.
