Taste of Belize fundraiser Saturday
ALPENA -- A Taste of Belize dinner and auction for the Belize Mission trip members will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 at the Immanuel Lutheran School gymnasium.
Volunteers will be serving authentic Belizean foods, full of flavor but not spice!
Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at Immanuel Lutheran church office or from a mission trip member. Only 200 tickets are printed. Please bring cash or check for the auction.
Alpena Garden Club plant sale May 25
ALPENA -- The May meeting of the Alpena Garden Club took place at Alpena Community College. The spring meetings are always the busiest with planning all the summer activities, including the farmers market on May 13, the perennial plant sale from 4 to 7 p.m. on May 25 at the ACC greenhouse off Woodward Avenue, and the Garden Walk planned for July.
The group welcomed a new member, Stefanie Huffaker. Soon, the group will be planting their gardens all over the city. The beautiful rain garden at the 9th Avenue bridge has now been added.
The meeting ended with Linda DeWyre playing a plant identification game.
