Alpena Symphony Orchestra Spring Gala concert May 6
ALPENA -- The Alpena Symphony Orchestra will perform its Spring Gala concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 at the Alpena High School auditorium, 3303 S. 3rd Ave.
The orchestra will be directed by Maestro Jim VanEizenga, Director of Orchestras for Novi High School. The featured soloist for this Spring Gala"is Chicago-based pianist Tyler Kivel and he will perform "Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In addition to the concerto, the ASO will perform Beethoven's "Symphony No. 1 in C Major". You won't want to miss hearing these two masterpieces by two of the world's outstanding composers.
There is an admission charge for this concert of $15 per adult with students and children admitted for free. Tickets are available at the door only. The ASO is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. Bridge results noted
ALPENA -- Last week's results for the Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club have been announced.
Marge French and Marcy Sherman came in first place, followed by Carol Beatty and Marilyn Sharp in second, and Audrey Stevens and Linda Clegg in third.

Euchre tournament for Plaza Pool Sunday, April 16
ALPENA -- A euchre tournament fundraiser for the Alpena County Plaza Pool will be held on Sunday, April 16 at the APlex. This tournament is hosted by Friends of Plaza Pool.
Doors open at noon and play starts at 1 p.m. The cost is $20 per person. There will be door prizes.
The APlex is located at 701 Woodward Ave., Alpena.

Free Friday family swims in April at Alpena Plaza Pool
ALPENA -- Free Friday family swims, sponsored by Friends of Plaza Pool and the Youth and Recreation millage, will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on April 14, 21, and 28 at Alpena County Plaza Pool.
Children age 6 and younger must be accompanied by an adult in the water.
