ALPENA -- Thunder Bay Arts Council and Gallery, Inc. presents Shelia Robbins as their featured artist for May and June 2023.
An open house will be held in Robbins' honor from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 5 in the TBA Gallery, 127 W. Chisholm St., downtown Alpena. The reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Robbins owns Spruce Shadow Farms Wool Yarn and Fiber Shop in Hubbard Lake. Living her childhood dreams has turned into a profitable wool and fiber business.
The sheep are sheared in May and the wool is sent out to be cleaned and fluffed. Then on the farm she turns the wool into yarn. She also dyes yarns and has some beautiful blends including a blue/green variegated teal--she calls it Lake Huron Yarn.
She also puts all the wool together (wool, alpaca, llama) and turns it into yarn--called Funny Farm Yarn.
At the farm, they knit many hats, mittens, socks and scarves -- all custom orders are welcome.
Thunder Bay Arts Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. If you have questions, call 989-354-2586.
