HARRISVILLE — Alcona County Library in Harrisville has upcoming events planned this month.

Today is Popcorn Friday! Stop by the Alcona County Library in Harrisville and grab a free bag of movie-style buttered popcorn, while supplies last. Don’t forget to check out a movie while you’re there.

Today and Fridays, April 21 and 28, storytime and craft for children will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Harrisville branch.

The library has a collection of vegetable, herb, and flower seeds that patrons can take for free (limit of five packets per household) and grow in their gardens. If the plants produce well, patrons are encouraged to save some seeds and return them to the collection.

On Tuesday, April 18, Knitting Klub and Crochet will meet from 1:15 to 3:15 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library. All levels are welcome.

Also on Tuesday, the Alcona Book Club will meet from noon to 1 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library. The selection for April is “The Paris Library” by Janet Skeslien Charles.

On Wednesday, April 19, children of all ages are invited to Homeschoolers at the Library at 1 p.m. for a fun and educational activity at the Alcona County Library in Harrisville.

On Thursdays, April 20 and 27, Community Walking Club for Everyone will meet at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of the Harrisville branch.

On Thursday, April 20, Teen Movie and Munchies will be at 5 p.m. at the Harrisville branch, for ages 13 and up. Enjoy a fun movie with popcorn.

On Tuesday, April 25, join Jordan and Zara Pride from Michigan Gemstones at 5:30 p.m. for an introduction to collectible rocks and minerals of Michigan, along with geological history, visual demonstrations, information about locations, hobbyist tips, tricks, and more at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library. The gemstones will be on display from April 3 to May 1.

On Wednesday, April 26, the Alcona County Library Board will meet at 2 p.m. at the Harrisville branch.

On Thursday, April 27, Friends of the Library will hold a book sale from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Harrisville branch.

On Friday, April 28, Friends of the Library will hold a book sale from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Harrisville branch.

On Saturday, April 29, Friends of the Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Harrisville branch.
