Free family swim Friday

ALPENA — Free family swim will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Alpena Plaza Pool.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of Plaza Pool and the Alpena County Youth and Recreation millage.

The Plaza Pool is located at Alpena High School, 3303 S. 3rd Ave.

Surviving the Holidays Sunday

ALPENA — Surviving the Holidays, a program for those grieving the loss of a loved one, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Immanual Lutheran Church, 351 Wilson St. in Alpena.

Rockabilly Sunday at VFW

ALPENA — Rockabilly and open jam will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Alpena VFW Post 2496, located at 2900 Connon St. in Alpena.

Prime rib dinner Friday

ALPENA — VFW Post 2496 will host an all-you-can-eat prime rib dinner buffet from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday.

The price, if tickets are bought in advance, is $20 per person, or $25 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the VFW lounge.

The event will include a prime rib live action station, cut to order with au jus and horseradish cream, baked chicken, shrimp skewers (while supplies last), dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn niblets, green bean casserole, side salad, and a Bananas Foster dessert action station.

The public is welcome to attend.
