VFW 2496 Auxiliary meeting held

ALPENA — The regular meeting of the VFW 2496 Auxiliary was presided over by President Darryl McQuarrie at 6 p.m. on Nov. 8, with 15 members attending.

The secretary minutes and treasurer report were given and approved as read, pending audit.

There were three applications for membership — two life and one annual, and all were approved.

A thank-you note was read from the Garrett Mausolf family for the Auxiliary’s donation to their fundraiser.

The Commander spoke briefly to the Auxiliary, updating them about upcoming events and thanking them for their support.

Three short committee reports were delivered from Americanism, Legislative and Membership chairmen.

November is Veterans Month, and Dec. 7 is Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

Mary read the audit report from the last quarter and it was approved.

A discussion took place about ideas for the lunch to be available for purchase at the next craft fair on Dec. 10.

It was also decided to host a dinner in the lounge on Friday, Dec. 9.

The VFW’s inspection by the District 13 President will take place at the Dec. 13 meeting.

A short report was given about the November district meeting in Harbor Springs.

The Auxiliary announced plans to provide a Christmas dinner for the Post and Auxiliary at 5 p.m. on Dec.13 before their meetings.

An extra donation to the post was added to the group’s regular donation to help with rising utility expenses.

The closing ritual was conducted and President Darryl adjourned the meeting at 7:05 p.m.

The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Dec. 13, following dinner.
