Grief Share starts Wednesday
ALPENA — Grief Share, a 13-week program, will start at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, led by Brent Finzel. If you have questions, call 989-354-3758.
MARSP meeting Thursday
ALPENA — Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) will have their first fall meeting at noon on Thursday at the First United Methodist Church on Ripley Boulevard. Bring your own lunch. Coffee and dessert will be available for $3.
The guest speaker will be B.J. Sander, program director at the Alpena Senior Citizens Center.
All retired school personnel are encouraged to attend, as current information regarding insurance and legislative actions will be shared.
All Saints masses to be temporarily moved
ALPENA — All Saints Parish will be temporarily moving weekend masses to St. John Church on Frederick Street, starting Sept.17, due to repair work on the front steps of St. Anne Church, to last approximately four weeks.
All weekday liturgies and sacraments will take place at St. Bernard Church on Chisolm Street until further notice.
Church leaders ask the public to please refrain from approaching St. Anne Church by the front steps. The parish office and hall and the entrance on Sable Street will remain open at this time.
Word of Life to host free concert Friday
ALPENA — Word of Life Baptist Church will host a concert, The Union of Sinners and Saints, at 7 p.m. on Friday. Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
This concert is part of the Storyteller Tour, featuring John Schlitt of Petra, Billy Smiley of Whiteheart, and Jason Fowler.

Hillman VFW met
HILLMAN – Hillman VFW Post 2356 met on Sept. 1, with eight members present.
The Friday night fish fry has been open since July 9, and doing well. Dinners are available dine-in or carry-out. Starting May 6, there will be a $1.50 per meal price increase.
The Hillman High School has asked the VFW to have an honor guard with the American Flag before home football games. The members voted in support to accept that honor.
Montmorency County now has an effective Veterans Affairs rep to fill the position. Call Michael Burzynski at 989-785-8043.
The post sells polyester 3’x5′ American flags for $25, made in the U.S. The post ordered some new flags and flagpoles.
A lot of clubs are having trouble getting members, and some VFW posts are even closing. If any qualified veterans are looking for a home, please contact the VFW.
Medical supplies are available for loan. Please call Wayne at 989-255-4412 or Marv at 989-255-2072. Anyone with medical items no longer needed, please call the VFW so they can continually upgrade.

The next regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6.
Ossineke Eagles events this weekend
OSSINEKE – The Ossineke Eagles #3762 will host a taco bar from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, for $12 per person. Then The Truckey Road Experience will play from 8 p.m. to midnight. There will also be a 50/50 drawing.
Then on Sunday, a buffet breakfast will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., for $10 per person. The menu includes scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, bacon, biscuits and gravy.
The Ossineke Eagles Hall is located at 6848 U.S.-23 South.
The public is welcome at both events.
