Dragonfly Art Gallery hosting two visiting artists this month

HARRISVILLE — The Dragonfly Art Gallery is hosting two visiting artists in August: Karen Cracchiolo and Carol Chisholm.

Both work in watercolors. There will be a meet and greet from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, where visitors to the gallery will have a chance to meet the artists and view their artwork.

The Dragonfly is also pleased to announce two new members: Anne Sonnenberg and Carol Pruss. Anne paints and makes bead embroidered jewelry, and Carol works in pastels and acrylics.

About Karen Cracchiolo

While always interested, Karen did not actively pursue her art education until she and her husband retired and moved north from metropolitan Detroit. Thinking she wanted to learn how to paint with oils, Karen’s first instructor, Dolores Kurily, explained the differences between using oils, acrylics, pastels and watercolors. When Dolores said, “If you can master watercolor, you can master anything,” Karen knew she had found her direction in art.

Mostly self-taught, Karen strives to learn more by attending classes and workshops led by artists Dolores Kurily, Helga Flower, Joe Fettingis, Judi Betts, and others. She was invited to join the Northeast Michigan Artists Guild, and she credits NEMAG members as her best resources for inspiration, education, art and personal growth.

Karen thoroughly enjoys artfully experimenting with collage and design elements but is still most passionate about painting with water media.

Karen’s artwork is on display and for sale at the Dragonfly Gallery in Harrisville during the months of August and September.

For more information, visit the gallery at 116 E. Main St., Harrisville, or call 989-820-9614.
