ALPENA — Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union has announced recent scholarship recipients.

The William S. Moors scholarship was created in memory of the past president and board member of AAACU.

The $500 scholarship is awarded each year to credit union team members who are trying to better themselves personally and professionally in a college degree program that could eventually lead to an area of credit union management at AAACU or in the credit union industry.

Three team members, Alison Jakubcin, Samantha Rupert, and Denise Chapman, are the 2022 recipients of the William S. Moors Scholarship.

Jakubcin is currently working full-time at the Alpena main branch as the marketing specialist and Wildcat supervisor. She is taking classes through Alpena Community College and Northwood University, pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing.

Rupert is currently working full-time at in the account department at the Alpena main office. She is attending Alpena Community College, taking classes to pursue a degree in Business Management.

Chapman is currently working full-time at the Alpena main branch as an accounting specialist and taking classes through Alpena Community College and Northwood University, pursuing a degree in Accounting.

AAACU serves members primarily in Alpena, Alcona, Montmorency, and Iosco counties with 10 locations: a main office located in Alpena, a Wildcat branch in Alpena High School and branch offices in Ossineke, Lincoln, a Tiger branch in Alcona Community Schools, Atlanta, Oscoda, the Owl’s Nest in Oscoda Area Schools, Tawas, and an additional branch in Alpena.

As of May 31, 2022, Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union provides service to 32,980 members with total assets equal to $563,374,267.
