SUNRISE SIDE BULLETIN BOARD

Aid by the Dozen held June meeting

Monday, June 20 was the date chosen by Carole Kelly to host the monthly meeting of the Aid by the Dozen at the 19th Hole. The monthly donation was once again given to the Baby Pantry, a good cause. Receiving secret pal goodies were Carole, Kay, Ross, and Leora Jacobs. The hostess gift was taken by Chris Dubey. Marlene Montie, the group’s Sunshine Lady, sent cards to many. The cake raffle was won by Mariette Jore and Leora. Upon leaving, Carole passed out gifts to all. Next month the biannual Ladies’ Nite Out will be held at Rosa’s restaurant at 6 p.m. on July 13.

Hillman VFW held June meeting

The regular meeting of the Hillman VFW Post 2356 was held at 6 p.m. on June 2, with nine members present. New officers will be installed at the July meeting. The Friday Night Fish Fry is held weekly and has been doing well. Due to an increase in the cost of food and supplies, the price has been raised by $1.50 per meal. The 77th Annual V-J Day will be celebrated on Aug. 13. Fireworks donation jars are stationed around town to continue offering a quality display at the celebration, which is expected to include a flyover at noon. If veterans need assistance, call Montmorency County Veterans Affairs Rep Michael Burzynski at 989-785-8043. Polyester American flags are available at the Post for $25, made in the U.S. If any qualified veterans are looking for a home, please contact the Post. Medical supplies are available for loan. Call Wayne at 989-255-4412 or Marv at 989-255-2072. For Post hall rentals, call Bob Hunt at 989-657-1162. The next meeting is 6 p.m. Thursday, July 7.
