Alpena Lions hear from Lee Fitzpatrick
ALPENA – Lee Fitzpatrick, director of communications for Alpena Public Schools, spoke May 3 at the weekly meeting of the Alpena Lions Club.
Fitzpatrick’s duties on behalf of APS include government and media relations. Also, as the school communicator, he is actively involved in marketing, community outreach, employee recruiting, employee recognition, social media and school safety.
APS is Alpena’s third -largest employer. Educators and staff see to the education and care of 1,300 students.
In this day and age, security is a primary emphasis due to recent events. APS is transitioning to limited access secure facilities. The school system relies on students and the public to assist in monitoring the activities occurring on social media. It takes a community of dedicated educators and parents working together to protect and educate the leaders of tomorrow.
The Alpena Lions Club meets at noon every Tuesday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Email alpenalionsclub.com or reach out on Facebook.
