VFW Auxiliary hears updates

ALPENA — The regular meeting of VFW 2496 Auxiliary was presided over by President Darryl McQuarrie at 6 p.m. on Jan. 11, with 14 members in attendance.

The secretary and treasurer reports were given and accepted, pending audit.

Tammy read the bingo report from December and donated money from the canteen.

There were no new applications for membership.

Mary gave a Legislative report, Cheryl gave an Americanism and National Home report and requested a $25 donation to Cash for Kiddos.

Updates were provided on the January pool tournaments and help requested for breakfast and lunch workers. The commander would like an assistant from the auxiliary for pull tabs.

In new business, the charter was draped for three departed sisters, Elaine Wagner, Doris Soltysiak, and Jane Zielaskowski.

Mike Kruze gave information on the Feb. 12 broomstick 9-ball pool event.

The Agent Orange Riders are sponsoring a chili/soup cook off on Feb. 5.

A tentative date of Feb. 25 has been set to start the fish fries for Lent.

An audit date for the last quarter was determined.

After the closing ritual was conducted, President Darryl adjourned the meeting at 7 p.m.

The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
