NAMI sessions start Sept. 14
The NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Michigan Alpena Area Formation Team affiliate is offering a free eight-session educational program for family, significant others, and friends of people with mental health conditions. This program will significantly improve the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to a person with a mental health condition.
One will develop knowledge and skills to solve problems and communicate effectively, take care of yourself and manage your stress, support loved ones with compassion, find local support and services, gain knowledge on up-to-date information of mental health conditions and effects on brain, how to handle crisis, current treatments and therapies, impact of mental health condition on entire family.
Educational materials will be provided. Recovery is a journey, and there is hope. The program will meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday beginning Sept. 14 at the ESD (Educational Service District) building: 2118 U.S.-23 South.
