Kiwanis Prayer Breakfast planned for May 6

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observation held on the 1st Thursday of May. It is a time when people are asked to turn to prayer and meditation.

The President usually declares a proclamation naming that first Thursday in May the National Day of Prayer.

Last year Alpena’s local Kiwanis Prayer Breakfast was canceled due to concerns of COVID-19.

This year the group is going ahead with plans to hold it on Thursday, May 6 at 7 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with doors opening at 6:30 a.m. Dr. James Wolf will be the speaker.

Tickets are $10 and are available at Alpena Senior Citizens Center, State Farm office at 144 S. Ripley Blvd., and Immanuel Lutheran Church. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $12.

Start your day with this Kiwanis Prayer Breakfast and continue observing the day with other National Day of Prayer observances that may be offered by the city at City Hall.
