ALL programs set for next week

Programs from the Association of Lifelong Learners for next week include plants, conversations and bridge.

Currently all programs are via Zoom livestream only. These programs are open to the public. Just send an email to ALL@Alpenacc.edu to receive Zoom connection information. Feel free to share this list with your friends, relatives and other organizations.

Programs for the next week are listed below.

New plants for 2021

Join ALL at 10 a.m. on Monday on Zoom as they visit Netta’s, a family-owned nursery specializing in perennials, annuals, trees, and shrubs that thrive in Northern Michigan. This presentation will be an inspiration for the coming spring season and the joy that flowers bring to our lives.

Netta’s has been in business for over 25 years and has grown so they now have eight greenhouses and a large outdoor area for plants. Netta Taratuta loves to hear the success stories from the customers and to teach them to grow and especially to teach them to smile.

Conversations with ALL

At 7 p.m. on Monday, Zoom in for Conversations with ALL. In this age of COVID, do you miss gathering around the table and engaging in casual conversations with family and friends? Conversations with ALL will be virtual, but they hope to bring back that spontaneous and fun supper-table talk. Each monthly conversation will be an informal conversation on a topic to be decided by participants. The first session will be a discussion on what participants are reading. And Why?

Learning/Refresher Bridge

Learn or refresh your bridge skills at 10 a.m. Wednesdays, April 7, 14, and 28.

Interested in learning bridge or refreshing memories from playing bridge a long ago? This is the group for you. You might ask ‘why should I learn to play bridge?’ Here are some answers: Bridge offers intellectual and social stimulation on a routine basis. An area in the brain used in playing bridge stimulates the immune system. Playing bridge can help older people retain their mental sharpness. And the ALL Friday bridge players are in need of some new participants.

Pickleball

ALL Pickleball is playing at the APlex (mask required), from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Call 989-358-7207 for details.
