VFW 2496 Auxiliary held January meeting

ALPENA — The regular meeting of the VFW 2496 Auxiliary was presided over by President Darryl McQuarrie at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021 with 10 members in attendance.

The November and December secretary and treasurer reports were given and accepted pending audit.

Tammy gave the bingo report from three bingos that were allowed during November and made a donation.

There were no applications for membership but a discussion took place concerning members that have not paid their 2021 dues.

The Auxiliary dinner that was planned for December, but was cancelled because of the COVID-19 shutdown, needed to be rescheduled. The plan now is to offer the mac and cheese lasagna dinner at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5.

In December, seven members participated in the Pearl Harbor remembrance ceremony on Dec. 7 and $160 was donated to the VVA #583 Toys for Kids program.

A list of items needed for the golf and craft baskets for the May 1 district meeting was made available.

The Post wants to bring back the Lenten fish fry and needs everyone’s help, starting Feb. 19.

The quarterly audit needs to be conducted as soon as possible. Hopefully some restrictions will be lifted before our next meeting and more activities can be planned.

The closing ritual was conducted by the president and the meeting adjourned at 7:05 p.m. The next meeting is at 6 p.m. on Feb. 9.
