MLK Jr. Committee offering free Zoom workshop Jan. 30

ALPENA — The Martin Luther King Jr. Committee is sponsoring a free Zoom workshop focusing on racial issues in American culture. This workshop is free and open to the public.

The workshop presenter will be La’Ron Williams, who is a nationally acclaimed and multiple award-winning storyteller, as well as a recognized diversity workshop leader. Based in the Ann Arbor area, Williams presented storytelling programs in the Alpena elementary schools last year to very positive reviews.

In his diversity workshops for adults, Williams helps participants understand the nature of “invisible” bias and moves beyond the emotional stumbling blocks that prevent us from taking collective responsibility for creating a just and equitable society.

The workshop is planned from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a lunch break, on Saturday, Jan. 30. The workshop will feature large group presentations and small group “breakout” sessions.

To register for the workshop, please email your request to the following address: abelovedcommunity.alpena@gmail.com.
