Professional artist Erwin P. Lewandowski of Alpena was recently notified that his drawing received the Legion Paper Award for Exceptional Merit at the 2021 Colored Pencil Society of America “Explore This! 17 Online Exhibition.” The event is one of two annual international exhibitions hosted by the CPSA organization.

“I was delighted to learn that my waterscape drawing, ‘Cascading Water XVIII,’ was selected for the exhibition and also received the Legion Paper Award,” Lewandowski said in a press release. “This marks the second time I’ve been fortunate to receive their generous award. Legion Paper, a global company with offices in New York, Los Angeles, and Europe, is a major fine art paper manufacturer and sponsor of the CPSA and their events.”

Cascading Water XVIII is a very complex and detailed rendering of a stream traversing down a mountain setting. The focus of the composition is the rapid movements of water cascading between large landscape rocks. The scene is further enhanced by the colorful contrast of abundant foliage and leaves found along the rocky terrain.

This past week, the artist was invited to be one of six artists selected for a special exhibition at Studio 23/The Arts Center in Michigan. The exhibit is being curated by Valerie Allen with collaboration and sponsorship by The Arts Center and Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy. The “Land to River Exhibition” is slated to run from March 25 to May 15, 2021.

The artist and his wife Mary reside along the shoreline of Lake Huron in Alpena. To learn more about the artist and his work, go to www.erwinplewandowski.com.
