Hillman VFW Auxiliary holds first meeting of 2021

The first meeting of the year for the Hillman VFW Auxiliary #2356 was attended very well for these tough times, with 13 in attendance.

All chairmanships were reported on and appropriate action taken.

A discussion was held in regard to the Awards Banquet for Patriot Pen, Voice of Democracy and Teacher of the Year, and the Gold Star Family Luncheon, and it was decided to hold off one more meeting to see if the COVID-19 situation settles down.

“The two events really need to take place in order for us to show true appreciation and how much we thank those who took part,” a press release stated. “Pray this disease ends shortly.”

The group extended a “huge thank you” to Mary Brown for mailing out the newsletter and including a request for Buddy Poppy/ Relief Fund donations. The group did very well, and is proud of her.

“Please keep our members with COVID and Cancer in prayer,” the release noted.

Tom would like to thank the auxiliary members as they are over 100% membership dues paid.

“That is something to be thankful for especially with tough times,” the report stated. “We appreciate each and everyone of you.”

The next meeting of the Auxiliary is at 6 p.m. on Feb. 2, at the post home. This just happens to be Groundhog Day.
