Presque Isle Lighthouse July photo winners announced

Courtesy Photos The above photo, titled “Morning Light,” by Clint Douthittz won the first-place juror’s award in the July photo contest held by the Presque Isle Township Museum Society.

This year marks the 180th and 150th anniversaries of the two Presque Isle Lighthouses and the 115th year of the 1905 Keeper’s House. To celebrate the anniversaries, the Presque Isle Township Museum Society is holding two photo contests in July and August. The Society is pleased to announce the winners of the July Lighthouse Photo Contest — the Old (1840) Presque Isle Lighthouse and the Range Lights (1870).

The People’s Choice Award, determined by the most likes on the Society’s Facebook Page: facebook.com/presqueislelighthouses, is “Old Presque Isle — Perched Among The Pines” by Gunnar Rochon.

For the Juror’s Awards, the four jurors (all members of the Museum Society) carefully considered the 48 submissions and ranked each photo for its artistic creativity, lighting, composition, and point of view.
