ALL offers programs this week

These online Association of Lifelong Learner programs are open to the public. Just send an email to ALL@Alpenacc.edu to receive connection information. Feel free to share this list with your friends, relatives and other organizations.

Today at 2 p.m.: “Line Dancing” with Debbie Kerr.Wear some comfortable shoes and have a water bottle nearby and tune in for this class.

Tuesday at 11 a.m.: “ALL Program Development” You are invited to make suggestions or volunteer for online programs or future in-person programs. ALL is a volunteer-based nonprofit looking for educational programs. Programs may be based on your experiences, research or connections to other organizations.

Thursday at 11 a.m.: “Epidemiology and Community Health in District Health Dept #2 and #4” Devin Spivey is the epidemiologist and community health director for District Health Department #2 and #4 which covers Alcona, Iosco, Oscoda and Ogemaw counties to the south and Alpena, Montmorency, Presque Isle and Cheboygan in the north.  She handles all the statistics for both departments on community health issues, and specifically, for confirmed cases of COVID-19.  She will cover the difficulties encountered in testing processes, community education, efficacy issues, analysis by community/county and current as well as long-term concerns.

Friday at 10 a.m.: “Our Health and Our Government — A Team or Not?”

This is the first of a two part series that will first focus on the government’s influence on the practice of medicine in America especially during this pandemic.

The second session would focus on the desired and likely results of that influence. The second part will be Aug. 24 at 10 a.m.

In-person programs

ALL pickleball has restarted outside at the Bay View Park courts as the APlex is currently closed to pickleball. Play is from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
