Messy Hands for tots at Art in the Loft Tuesday

Art in the Loft is hosting a new class for kids, Messy Hands open studio for ages 18 months to 4 years, starting Tuesday. Join in every other Tuesday (opposite of Art POP) anytime between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. This free experience is self-guided with the supplies available for you and your little artist to come and create in a space where it is OK to get your hands messy. It’s never too early to foster an interest and passion for art in everyday life.

Class of ’53 meets Wed.

The AHS Class of 1953 will gather at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the 19th Hole for their monthly get-together. Please let other classmates know. If you have questions, call Jeanne Szymanski at 989-356-0606.

Food pantry Wednesday

Sunrise Community Food Pantry is from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard Lake Bible Church, 13508 Hubbard Lake Road. The pantry is offered on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month.

Pizza Nite at Moose Lodge on Wednesday

Alpena Moose Lodge is hosting Pizza Nite at 5 p.m. Wednesday at 2630 Werth Road. The meal is $6 per adult and $3 per child 12 and under.

Serenity Recovery on Wednesday afternoons

Serenity Recovery, a 12-step based addiction recovery program led by Dr. Rev. Paul A. Lance, meets from 1:15 to 2 p.m. every Wednesday in the basement of First Congregational Church in Alpena.

Discover for yourself the principles behind the 12 steps as they occur in scripture throughout the New Testament.

ALL luncheon, writing workshop Wednesday

On Wednesday, ALL will gather at noon for lunch at the 19th Hole, 1081 U.S.-23 North. Escape cabin fever, and invite a friend, but let the ALL office know at 989-358-7207. Sharing Our Stories writing workshop, led by Mary Ann Crawford, meets from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at M. Briggs Center on the second Wednesday of the month.

Casino trip, dementia support group Thursday

Alpena Senior Citizens Center has a casino tour going to Turtle Creek Casino in Williamsburg on Thursday. Please arrive at the center at 7 a.m. to check in before the bus departs. The bus will return around 5:30 p.m. This trip costs $40 per person. To reserve your spot, call 989-356-3585.

Also Thursday, double-deck pinochle is at 12:30 p.m., and needle craft group is at 1 p.m. Early-Stage Alzheimer’s support is from 1 to 2 p.m., for those living in the early stages of dementia.
