Free introduction to meditation classes starting Saturday

Interested in meditation? Don’t know where to start?

Studio Rubedo is hosting a new free Introduction to Meditation program from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at 213 W. Chisholm St. Learn to manage stress and gain health benefits from meditation.

Program dates are this Saturday, and Feb. 22, Feb. 29, and March 7, facilitated by Brian Schorn.

Learn the essential points of mindfulness meditation in a few simple steps. It’s easier than you may think.

Manage stress and learn a practice to support you during your busy life, career, or academic schedule. Benefit from proven health and well-being benefits of meditation.

Already a meditator and looking for a way to deepen your meditation practice? Learn to use every experience as an opportunity to awaken with the relaxed, spacious approach to meditation taught by Tibetan meditation master Mingyur Rinpoche.

“In meditation, we explore the landscape of the heart and mind with awareness,” Schorn said in a press release. “What we discover is true and lasting happiness that does not depend on the outer conditions of our lives. This simple course will take you step-by-step through the process of starting a meditation practice.”

Each 90-minute session includes a video teaching (from “An Introduction to Meditation” with Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche) with clear instructions on the basics of meditation practice, guidelines for daily practice, advice for bringing mindfulness into your everyday life, and questions to reflect upon throughout the week.
