In celebration of its 75-year anniversary, the Besser Foundation has announced plans to give the gift of education to five students planning to attend Alpena Community College this fall.

Scholarships will be given to:

¯ One student pursuing an associate’s degree in Business Administration,

¯ One student pursuing an associate’s degree in Concrete Technology,

¯ One student pursuing an associate’s degree in Nursing,

¯ One student pursuing an associate’s degree in Utility Technology,

¯ One student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Systems Technology.

Each of these students will be selected to receive a full-tuition, multi-year scholarship. Each scholarship will cover tuition, fees, books and supplies, and will be renewable each academic year needed to complete the degree.

Students wishing to apply for this one-time-only scholarship assistance should visit www.alpenacc.edu and navigate to the scholarship page. Full scholarship criteria and a printable application are available online, at the ACC Foundation office, and in the Alpena High School Library Media Center. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 20.

Details of each scholarship are listed below.

¯ Associate in Arts Business Administration Scholarship — This 2-year renewable scholarship will be awarded to a student working toward an Associate in Arts degree in Business Administration. Applicants must be in the Alpena High School graduating class of 2020 and reside in the Alpena area.

¯ Associate in Applied Science in Concrete Technology Scholarship — This 2-year renewable scholarship will be awarded to a student working toward an Associate in Applied Science degree in Concrete Technology. Applicants must be in the Alpena High School graduating class of 2020 and reside in the Alpena area. They must be accepted in the program and maintain a full-time status.

¯ Associate in Applied Science in Nursing Scholarship — This 3-year renewable scholarship will be awarded to a non-traditional student (graduated high school prior to 2015) working toward an Associate in Applied Science degree in Nursing. Applicant must be an Alpena High School graduate and reside in the Alpena area.

¯ Associate in Applied Science in Utility Technology Scholarship — This 2-year renewable scholarship will be awarded to a student working toward an Associate in Applied Science degree in Utility Technology and accepted into the program. Applicants must be in the Alpena High School graduating class of 2020 and reside in the Alpena area.

¯ Bachelor of Science in Electrical Systems Technology Scholarship — This 4-year renewable scholarship will be awarded to a student working toward a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Systems Technology and accepted into the program. Applicants must be in the Alpena High School graduating class of 2020 and reside in the Alpena area.
