VFW Auxiliary 2496 held December meeting

The regular meeting of the VFW Auxiliary 2496 was presided over by newly elected President Darryl McQuarrie at 6 p.m. on Dec. 10, with 13 members present.

One new application for life membership was received from Neal Letendre and, after a vote, he was accepted. The secretary and treasurer reports were given and approved, pending audit.

Chairmanship reports were presented and a certificate of appreciation was received from Linda Millard for the donation and help with her special friends Halloween party.

The Pearl Harbor Day remembrance ceremony held Dec. 7 was attended by five auxiliary and several post members.

Tammy presented her bingo report and donated $1,800.

The standing rules were reviewed and will be updated at the next meeting. Donations of $200 will be given to support the VVA Chapter 583 Toys for Kids program and $100 to help with expenses for the VFW 2496 Children’s Christmas party that was held at noon on Sunday, Dec. 22.

The auxiliary was awarded an unexpected and very much appreciated donation from Elmer’s Crane and Dozer, Inc. and a personal donation from a new member.

After the closing ritual, President McQuarrie adjourned the meeting at 7 p.m.

The next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Jan. 14.
