Dems host ‘Obama Burgers and Tunes’ at Black Sheep

The Alpena County Democratic Party invites the public to join them for “Obama Burgers and Tunes” from 4 to 7 p.m. at Black Sheep Pub, 113 S. 2nd Ave. in downtown Alpena.

An Obama Burger is a beef patty, bacon, caramelized red onion, blue cheese, and horseradish/mayo sauce. Special guest G.T. Long will have a meet and greet, and the band Great Lake Affect will perform. Suggested donation is $15.

Escape room, teen book club at Alpena County Library

Escape Room: Space Station, for ages 10 to 18, is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Alpena County Library. Tweens and teens are invited to drop in anytime during those hours to solve puzzles and decipher clues to escape the damaged space station and enter the shuttle to get back to Earth. This is a NASA@MyLibrary program. Call Tina at 989-356-6188 with questions.

Then on Sunday, Teen Book Club is from 3 to 4 p.m. at Alpena County Library, for ages 12 to 18. This month, members will read and discuss the first half of Nicola Yoon’s “The Sun Is Also a Star.” New members are always welcome. Books are available for checkout at the library, and e-books and audiobooks are also available via Libby. Participation is free and no registration is required. Get Crafty for Adults Monday

Get Crafty for Adults at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday. The craft will be fluid painting on tiles with Lynn and Jan, for $6 per student. To register, call 989-724-6796.

Also on Monday, Ukulele Jam Session for all ages and all levels is from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library.

State Rep. Sue Allor to speak in Alpena on Monday

From 3 to 4 p.m. on Monday, the public is invited to join ALL (Association of Lifelong Learners) in getting caught up with “What’s Happening in Lansing,” with state Rep. Sue Allor at Alpena Community College’s M. Briggs Center. Learn about potential legislation that may be introduced in the new term. Call the ALL office at 989-358-7207.

ALL curling class Tuesday

On Tuesday, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., ALL will have a chance to try curling after a brief introduction. Wear warm clothes and bring clean-soled tennis shoes. The cost is $10 for this class, at Northern Lights Arena.
