Painting peaceful pictures

News Photo by Darby Hinkley

At right, a group of budding artists participate in the Art Experience class taught by professional artist Noel Skiba on Jan. 11 before her artist reception at Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan. Pictured, from front to back, are Diana Amlotte, Alicia Hall, Sherryl Kelly, Noel Skiba, Chris Witulski and Elly Diamond. Skiba’s salon-style show features nearly 250 of her pieces, hung from floor to ceiling at Besser Museum. Witulski, the museum’s executive director, said this is the first time the museum has ever had a show this big, and the first time they have had a salon-style (floor to ceiling) exhibit. The show features paintings in a variety of styles – impressionism, abstract, realistic landscapes, portraits and more. It will be on display until October.
