While cleaning out a storage area, Mariflor Ramirez, manager of the laboratory at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena, discovered some microscopes that are no longer used. Ramirez reached out to Robin Benson, manager of educational services, who helped coordinate a donation to Immanuel Lutheran School and Alpena High School. Principal Jim Grulke accepted the gift for Immanuel Lutheran School. Grulke, pictured at right with the microscopes, said he had a couple teachers in the fifth through eighth grade levels that will be excited to use them. A second projecting microscope was donated to Pete Doubeck, biology teacher at Alpena High School. Pictured above is Doubeck utilizing the projection microscope with a student.
