Alpena High School students and sisters, Alisha and Hunter Ballor, spoke to the Zonta Club of Alpena about their experience aboard the 77-foot tall-ship schooner “Inland Seas” this past summer. Alisha and Hunter were co-recipients of the Zonta Club of Alpena scholarships available for the “Inland Seas Education Association Young Women in STEM” program, which offers this three-day, two-night research-based experience in STEM (science technology, engineering and math).

Alisha and Hunter Ballor provided details of their opportunity to explore the health and functioning of the Great Lakes while sailing and living aboard the “Inland Seas” schooner and the lasting memories and friendships that resulted from this unique experience.
