The Michigan Genealogical Council is pleased to announce this year’s winner of the Lucy Mary Kellogg Award established in 1992 by the Michigan Genealogical Council. The award was established to honor Lucy Mary Kellogg as the founding member and, an eminent Michigan genealogist. Her accomplishments on the state and national levels were recognized in 1991 as the first woman and the first from the Midwest area to be named to the National Genealogy Hall of Fame.

This is year’s recipient is Judy Sheldon of Huron Shores Genealogical Society. The award was presented at the Nov. 8 delegate meeting in Lansing.

Sheldon has been active in the Michigan genealogical community for more than 20 years, and has served Huron Shores Genealogical Society in a number of positions, including treasurer, senior researcher, and president. She represents HSGS at Michigan Genealogical Council and has served as the Public Relations Chairperson for MGC since 2013. Her nominating team stressed her gifts as an instructor, communicator, and facilitator encouraging inter-organization sharing and cooperation.
