First fall MARSP meeting Thursday

Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) will hold its first meeting of the fall at noon on Thursday at the First United Methodist Church.

Area Director Les Nixon will share about Growing Numbers. All retired school personnel are encouraged to attend and find out how to grow numbers in the organization, and learn about updates to retirement and health benefits.

MEA-Retired membership meeting Tuesday

Michigan Education Association (MEA) Retired will hold a general membership meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Alpena Golf Club, 1135 Golf Course Rd., Alpena.

Dues for 2019-20 are due.

At 11 a.m., keynote speaker Deb Larson of MEA Uniserv (MEA Advantage Trainer/Presenter) will speak on the topic MEA Advantage: What MEA Can Do for You After Retirement.”

Lunch will be self-pay for the special or from the menu.

Revival meetings today thru Wed.

Evangelist Ron Alberico will be preaching in evangelistic revival meetings at 7 p.m. today, Tuesday and Wednesday at Lighthouse Baptist Church, located five miles north of Alpena at the intersection of U.S.-23 North and Long Lake Road.

GriefShare starts Tuesday

GriefShare grief support group will start its 13-week program at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Immanual Lutheran Church in Alpena. The program will be held weekly at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, led by Bret Finzel.

The CCHS Class of 1960 will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the 19th Hole for its summer gathering. Note that this is a Tuesday night, instead of the usual Wednesday night.

AHS/CCHS Class of ’60 reunion

The 50th reunion for the AHS and CCHS Class of 1960 is this weekend.

On Friday is a meet and greet, with cocktails starting at 5:30 p.m. and the event going until 10 p.m. at Thunder Bowl Lanes.

The reunion is at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Alpena Knights of Columbus Hall, with dinner and dancing.

Then on Sunday is a farewell brunch starting at 10 a.m. at JJ’s Steak and Pizza House.

NLCF Discipleship starts Wed.

Discipleship School at New Life Christian Fellowship begins Wednesday. The class is from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and will be held every Wednesday at the church, 317 S. Ripley Blvd.

Afternoon Affair at Brush Creek

Visit Brush Creek Mill in Hillman for Afternoon Affair from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, for Donna Klien and her slide show “Recollections,” featuring Victorian and Edwardian style clothing. Refreshments will be served, and donations will be accepted.
