ALL events planned

In addition to its regular weekly programming, Association of Lifelong Learners will be able to participate in the following upcoming activities. For more information, call 989-358-7207.

¯ Thursday — ALL will learn about Alpena’s architecture, from Victorian-era homes to international moderns, at 11 a.m., at ACC’s M. Briggs Center. Don LaBarre, who has a master’s degree in architecture, will talk about how valuable these buildings are to understanding our past.

¯ Tuesday, Aug. 20 — ALL will join Judy Kalmanek of the Wildlife Sanctuary Board and the Huron Pines Board, for a walk around Duck Park and Island Park. Join her at the entrance to the bridge at 1:30 p.m. to learn about the wildlife and plants. The walk will conclude around 2:30 p.m.

¯ Wednesday, Aug. 21 — ALL Camera Club meets from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at ACC’s M. Briggs Center.

¯ Thursday, Aug. 22 — ALL members can take the AARP Smart Driver Course from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at M. Briggs Center, taught by Kait Melville Hall.

¯ Thursday, Aug. 22 — ALL will join Jane Rauch, originally from the Philippines, in making spring rolls at 10 a.m. at the home of an ALL member. Call for details.

¯ Tuesday, Aug. 27 — ALL will gather at noon at Nick’s Diner for the moveable feast.

¯ Wednesday, Aug. 28 — ALL will learn about Ecuador with Nancy and Mark Kinney from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at M. Briggs Center.

¯ Thursday, Aug. 29 — ALL will see how caramel corn is made and visit the coffee roasting area with Suzanne Evans from 10 to 11 a.m. at North Country Candy and Gifts, 1045 N. Bagley.
