34th Badder reunion held at Hubbard Lake Lions Park

Descendents of Soloman and Eliza Badder gathered on the last Saturday in July at the Lion’s Club Park in Hubbard Lake for their 34th annual Badder family reunion.

The weather was great, and the food, as always, delicious and plentiful. There were approximately 65 people in attendance.

The family appreciates Debbie Preston for organizing everything and “doing all the heavy work,” and Kurt Badder for grilling the hot dogs and brats, with everyone enjoying his special recipe.

Marvin Schultz led the group in prayer before the meal.

Dayna Grimaldi won the door prize and Carolyn Ritthaler won the 50/50 drawing.

Candles were lit by family members for all eight deceased children of Solomon and Eliza. Candles were suggested by Sandra Christopherson instead of launching balloons. It was a beautiful display and meant so much to be able to honor the parents who started the reunion so many years ago.

Those who were not able to attend this year are encouraged to try to attend next year’s gathering, to get to know those family members they don’t see very often. The annual reunion is always held on the last Saturday in July, always at the same place.
