The Region 9 Area Agency on Aging will host an 8-hour AARP Smart Driver course from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday. The course will be at the NEMCSA Annex building at 2560 U.S.-23 South in Alpena.

The fee for the course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Class participants must bring their Michigan drivers license and AARP card, if applicable. Bring a bag lunch for the 30-minute break.

Participants will learn defensive driving techniques, proven safety strategies, new traffic laws and rules of the road. There are no tests to pass. Simply sign up and learn. Those who complete the course may be eligible for discount insurance rates.
