The VFW Auxiliary 2356 is proud to offer scholarships and participate in scholarship contests that promote patriotism, assist students in furthering their education, and help students reach their full potential.

The following scholarships are offered:

∫ Continuing Education Scholarship, $1,000 — Open to any Auxiliary member (who has been a member for at least a year), or their spouse, son or daughter with a financial need. Entrants must be at least 18 years old. Complete the application and submit an essay of 300 words or less. Application must be received at National Headquarters by February 15, 2020. Will be awarded to an applicant in each of the four conferences.

∫ Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest — This is open to all students, including home-schooled students, in grades 9-12, no older than 18 years of age at the time of local entry, and a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. Entries must be received by the local Auxiliary by March 31, 2020. Local scholarship of $100 awarded for best picture.

∫ Voice of Democracy Audio-Essay — Theme: “What Makes America Great.” This contest is open to all students, including home-schooled students, in grades 9-12. Students must be a resident of the state where entered. One department winner will be forwarded to National. Entries to the VFW Post must be received by midnight, October 31, 2019.

∫ Patriots Pen Essay — Theme: “What Makes America Great.” This contest is open to all students, including home-schooled students, in grades 6-8. Students must be a resident of the state where entered. One Department winner will be forwarded to National. Entries to the VFW Post must be received by midnight, October 31, 2019.
