Trivia night fundraiser Saturday for Children’s Advocacy Center

A trivia night and silent auction at 7 p.m. Saturday at Lost Lake Woods Club will raise funds for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Northeast Michigan to provide support services to abused children.

Trivia teams will consist of four to eight people. The entry fee is $20 per person, ages 18 and older. Pre-register by contacting Melissa at MDHHS at 989-260-2311. Those who don’t have a team can call to participate and be placed on a team. The top-scoring team will win a trophy. Silent auction winners will be announced at the end of the night, and high bidders will be contacted.

Ice water and light snacks are included. A cash bar and menu items, as well as reduced-rate lodging will be offered at Lost Lake Woods Club, located at 4243 N. Lost Lake Trail in Lincoln.

Find registration forms and more information on the Facebook event page “Trivia Night Fundraiser.”

The Children’s Advocacy Center is where Child Protective Services or law enforcement would refer victims of child abuse. CAC staff conducts forensic medical exams and interviews. Interviews are recorded so that the child does not have to repeatedly relive the trauma of telling their story. Previously, children were shuffled from agency to agency, retelling their stories to up to 15 people. The CAC helps these children from a “one-stop approach” featuring a multidisciplinary team of law enforcement officers, victims’ advocates, medical providers, mental health professionals, prosecuting attorneys and child protection workers.

For more information about the CAC, call 989-358-3564. The center is located at 1185 U.S.-23 North in Alpena.
